Self-Diagnosis

I went to the doctor yesterday for what I was thinking was a sinus infection. He got into the room- wait, quick aside: Why do they bother to take you out of the nice waiting room with TV and magazines, only to sit in the treament room staring at the walls for an hour?? Anyway, so the doctor gets in there and asks me what was going on, what were my symptoms. I give him the basic rundown. Then, I'm not lying, he says: "So, what do you think it is?" Well, I told him I figured it started as allergies and is turning into more of a sinus infection. I get the head nod, so he agrees? I'm not lying again, he says: "So, do you want to treat both?" In my head, I'm thinking, "You've got to be joking, is he seriously going to do what I ask?" Oh yes, I give him my treatment plan of a steroid shot and antibiotics. He agrees and adds in an allergy shot to, "just to cover our bases!" What a deal! I want you to know I'm not complaining. I truly do like this doctor, and this was not his normal way to act. But, how many times do we complain about the doctor not listening and just wanting to push pills, get people in and out, etc.? I am fine with him asking my opinion on what I thought it was. We all say we know our own bodies, right? Just thought it was pretty funny!
