Spring Break Visitors

We were happy to host the Grahams for a few days to begin our spring break.  The kids had a blast with Nerf Wars, hot tub, ping pong, and just hanging out together! They even swam in the pool some too, which made me feel like a bad mother to let them do it!

It's great to spend time with old friends. Sara and Jasen usually host us in each town they live, so it was nice to have them over to our house for a stay.  There's something about being around an old friend that makes it easier to relax!

Here are a few pictures...

Birthday Girl

Landry had a birthday on Tuesday... her 11th!  She was really bummed that she didn't get to be at school with her friends, but she certainly enjoyed the "snow day" at home.  Jason made French toast for breakfast, I made a pound cake, and then Papa and Gram brought cake and ice cream after supper! Quite a day!

We are waiting for the weather to clear up for her to have a party with her friends. Unfortunately, the icy and snowy weather has halted most of everyone's plans this week!

Ready for Soaking

The pool and spa are officially done!  We were able to get in as a family Friday night, then we had friends over to join us Saturday night!  The contractors are finishing up the odds and ends of the project, but we are so happy to be enjoying the hot tub!

The temperature goes up to 104 degrees, and that is HOT!  I always thought I could soak in a hot tub for hours, but 30 minutes is plenty!

This weekend we will host a birthday dinner for my father-in-law, Charles.  Jason is excited to use his outdoor kitchen for a crowd, and I know that everything he makes will be amazing!

Almost Done!

We now have the outdoor kitchen and patio cover!  They finished the roof minutes before the rain came in, so we will have another few days of nothingness with rain last night and today!

We can definitely see the light at the end of the tunnel now though, so we are starting to get patio furniture and landscaping lined up!!

I'm so excited for Jason to cook up something amazing on his new outdoor equipment, then relax for the evening in the hot tub!!

Pool construction update

As we claim to be in a 4-year drought in Texas, progress has been halted on the pool due to multiple episodes of rain!  Let me make this clear- I am not complaining about the rain!!

The deck was officially finished in 2014, as the guys packed up to leave at 10:30 p.m. of 12/30/14.  It was neat to watch the process of getting the concrete to the backyard by hundreds of wheelbarrow trips.  They parked the cement truck at the street out of courtesy to preserve our driveway.  So, they had about 20 guys hauling wheelbarrows full of the mix.  Once they got everything smoothed out, grooved, and dried the perfect amount, then they washed the top layer of to reveal the aggregate, or pebble, finish.

Because of the forecast, they put a tarp over the entire deck.  Thank goodness for the tarp because we got a considerable amount of rain for several days!

Nerf Wars

The kids have had a blast playing Nerf Wars the past few days.  Tripp got the Mega Thunderbow and Braden got the Retaliator.  Landry already had her Rebelle bow.  Braden definitely has the best weapon, but Landry is relentless with her shooting.  Little Tripp- he is a bit too kind-hearted to unleash on anyone, so he spends a good bit of time aiming!  At any rate, I have enjoyed watching them and listening to them!

Christmas 2014

Well, we survived another whirlwind of Christmas celebrations!  We spent the weekend with my side of the family, then Christmas Eve with Jason's parents.  Every place has a different feel, and it is good to make the rounds and see everyone!

We have definitely had way too much to eat, but I figure that is expected this time of year!  It gives us a cliche Resolution to make next week!

Wishing all who read a happy and healthy new year!
