Granny

Granny was called up to heaven last night. She suffered a severe stroke on Saturday and was unable to recover. She was a fighter, as she had battled many illnesses in the last several years, and it is comforting to know that she is at peace now. She was one of the sweetest ladies I've ever known, just a perfect "granny." Jason had the blessing of growing up very close to his Granny and Pa-paw, and I know he has tons of memories. He talks about playing crazy 8's with Granny over and over. He says he would keep saying, "One more game," and she would just keep playing! I know that I heard a lot about Granny the first year we were married. When I'd try to cook something... "It's not like Granny's, but it's still good." I would secretly call her and ask how to make his favorites. Coconut cream pie- how much of this and that? She'd always say she didn't have the exact recipe, you just have to add a little of this and a little of that!

Granny loved our kids. They called her Granny Frog because of Pa-paw being nicknamed "Frog." I'm so proud that she was able to see and know Jason's children. Kids are amazing, and she got to see 4 grandchildren grow up to be great people, and she got to see and know 4 great-grandchildren in the past five years.

Jason and Braden were at the hospital last night when she passed. Jason told me that when they were in the family room afterward, Braden said, "She can use her right side now." Our boy has an incredible heart. I can't say enough how proud I am that our kids got to spend some years with Granny.
