Our church hosted a ranch party last night. Tons of fun for the kids: bounce house, wheelbarrow races, horse riding, roping lessons, etc. They had a BBQ contest for the men and a homemade ice cream contest for the women. We made a brisket and cherry ice cream, but we didn't win. Jason was on the panel of judges, so he didn't want to vote for our own entry!!
Landry now has the virus that I've been fighting for several days. She threw up before church yesterday, then was fine all day... until we were at the ranch party. Let's just say it was an easy clean-up. There was a water hose nearby, and we had an extra set of clothes in the van. Just like new in 5 minutes! This morning I'm trying to explain to her why I'm not giving her everything she wants to eat and drink. She had a cup of apple juice and asked for more. I told her she could have some Gatorade. That didn't make her happy because she wanted some apple juice! About 30 minutes later she ran to Jason, "Daddy, I want some Ader Gator." Go figure!
I'm serving on the jury today. Another life experience in the books. I really didn't mind going the first day to see who got picked. It was very interesting to see how law is practiced in the real world. Anything I "know" is what I've seen on Law and Order or Runaway Jury type shows! Plus, we got a raise in 2006. I get $12 for showing up for the summons, and $40/day for serving on the jury. Easy money, baby!
