I don't know that I've ever gone to a funeral and been inspired, but it happened Friday. Charles' mother was such a great Christian woman who lived her life serving God and serving others. They compared her to the Proverbs 31 woman in the message, and I can't think of a greater honor.
We had a family day on Friday. Something feels different about being off together on a weekday, almost like we are getting bonus time! Jason's parents had supper with us that night. I made a really good casserole, one that I kind of made up as I was going!
Saturday morning we got up and drove to Weatherford to do some clothes shopping. We had to take back the extra dress clothes I had gotten Jason, so I made an excuse to look at their sale stuff while we were there! We had a great time, and the kids were perfect. I know they were tired of it, but they were really troopers. We all got hooked up for the cooler weather... if we ever get any, that is!
We had a birthday party at 2:00, which we were a little late for. The theme was Batman and Superman! Braden got a cape and mask as party favors! (Landry was at home napping, but I brought her the goodies too.) That was really fun, but there is a quota on the minutes I can spend at a toddler birthday party! I think my primitive autistic and anti-social tendencies start brewing after a few too many screams, whines, cries....
Papa and Gram came over to play with the kids, and then they took us out to eat at El Chico. It seems to be easier to go out to eat these days, by the way. Landry is learning a few table manners (and of course she is happy as long as you've got food in front of her), and Braden is less restless than he used to be. Selfish me points out that I sure get to enjoy my dining experience more!
After bedtime for Landry, we had late-night 42 playoff with Tim, Peggy, Michael and Kinsey. We hadn't played in a while, so that was super fun. I didn't have a bidding hand the whole night, and that is just the way it goes sometimes. We won one set and lost one. Braden went to bed way to late, and so did we. For some odd reason, we started going through our clothes and organizing our master closet after the 42 game. It was already late, but I guess we just got into it and couldn't find a stopping point. It was almost 1 a.m. when we finally laid down. Yikes!
