Great summer

I guess you could say our summer break is officially over. Jason goes back to school today, and the kids go back to the babysitter. What a bummer! As we were driving to church last night, Jason asked, "Isn't there some kind of home business we could have where we could all be together during the day?" I immediately knew that he was dreading the return to work, and most of all the return of the kids to the babysitter. I shouldn't speak for him, but I think he was a little worried that he would not be such a good stay-at-home daddy before summer started. He was sure to have Whitney lined up to help with the kids once a week. We actually haven't used her over the past month, and Jason is totally fine with that. I don't think he had any idea what an impact his staying home would have on them.

I guess I'm kind of at a loss for words. I've been sitting here thinking about all the things I could say about what a good summer it's been, but I'd spend a good part of my morning doing that! By the way, I did survive my running adventure yesterday. My legs were a little rubbery last night, but not too bad.

Here's some of my favorite kid things right now:
  • Landry "singing" with me (Jesus Loves Me) when I put her to bed.
  • Braden tells me "oh, I forgot a hug" when I kiss him goodnight and start to leave the room
  • Hearing Landry's little feet slap on the tile when she's puttering through the house.
  • Braden running straight to me after his nap and saying, "Let's snuggle a little".
  • Landry tugging on my shirt saying "up" when she wants me to get something.
  • Braden holding my cheeks and looking me right in the eyes when he is trying to be serious about something.

Pray for a smooth Monday for Jason and the kiddos!
