Perfect timing

Jason and I call the area between Cresson and Granbury "the humps." We seem to always have a fading cell signal when we're at the bottom of a hump. It's as close to a hill as we get in this area! Anyway, I was in the humps on my way home yesterday afternoon when I was doing a mental inventory of the freezer. I was so hungry, and I was trying to figure out what we'd have for supper. Jason had a day off from the kids yesterday, and they stayed with Whitney. He wasn't even home yet, so I knew he didn't have anything fixed. Oh, the beauty of cell phones. I got a call about 30 seconds after I decided it might be a frozen pizza night... Whitney was calling to make sure we'd stay for supper when we came and got the kids. I thought about playing the card of "Oh, y'all don't need to feed us, we'll just eat something at home." Nope, I didn't even go there. We had meatloaf, squash casserole, twice baked potatoes, green beans... the full spread. My tummy was oh so happy!

Landry had her hair up in little dog ears when I went to pick her up. I just gobbled her up when I got there. Braden heard me and came running with a shout, "Momma". He was hugging on my leg and she had her head rested on my shoulder. Mondays are so tough to be away from the kids, but it's nice to know that they missed me too!

We kept Jeremy and Misti's kids for a couple of hours in the evening. They needed some time to ponder Misti's job offer she got yesterday to teach junior AP English in Granbury. The kids played great together. Landry even shared her new kitchen set, and Braden shared his sword (but not the boxing gloves). There's only so much you would expect a 3-year old to do. The toddlers had a bag of fruit snacks (with Landry's prompting). She'll come over to you and pull on your shirt, "Up, nack". If you get up, she runs right to the snack cabinet in the kitchen. If you don't get up... well, you just better get up!! Hudson didn't get a bag of snacks, but he figured out that if he followed Landry around, he would eventually get one. He did, and I got to to the good 'ole finger sweep. Poor guy just wanted a fruit snack. I felt bad for him, so we got out his bottle. Of course, Braden and Jenna felt the need to help him. You know how toddlers love to help!

All in all it was a great Monday. I can't complain about much when I am sleeping better now than I have in the past 6 months. Thank goodness for the repaired bed frame!!
