I was home by 10:30 yesterday from a short morning at the nursing home. It was great to surprise Jason and the kids by coming home early. We just hung out for a couple of hours; we actually spent a good bit of time outside hitting plastic golf balls. Braden has a little left-handed club that he does really well with. We tried to get him to swing a baseball bat and a golf club right-handed, but he would always turn around to do it left-handed.
I had a great lunch date with two friends. We are doing a bible study together, so we meet once a week to discuss the material. It is great to have friends that are generally "in the same place" on life's road, so you have some common ground for discussion! I told them that what I miss most about college life is the friendships. Life was so easy back then, we just didn't know it at the time.
After naps, we took a quick trip over to Stephenville to swim in Mimi's pool. She is back from a lengthy trip to Montana. She brought back a draft of what I've been calling "the phantom cookbook." About 3 years ago, all the family members were told to send recipes to one of my aunts, and we were going to make a family cookbook. They had a deadline of January 2003. Well, months go by, and no word about the cookbook. When mom was up there, she helped them finish a rough draft. It will be great. There are over 500 recipes in it from all kinds of extended family. Maybe we'll have a copy by Christmas!
We had a quiet night and early bedtime. Landry is fighting her bedtime, which is not like her. We've always been able to lay her down without any fussing. Now, she is protesting, but it doesn't last very long. Before we turn around, she'll be in a big girl bed. Whew, they grow up too fast!
