Date night

Jason and I got a date night last night!! Our friends, Jeremy and Misti, kept the kids while we went to see a matinee and went out to dinner. They actually offered to keep the kids!! That's the kind of friends we all need. Jeremy actually had ulterior motives... he wants Landry to start liking him. We've tried to tell him that she's just that way with everyone, except a handful of people. She's a very sassy little thing, and she can give you a look that makes you just turn away! She loves her mama though!! Braden loves going over there for many reasons. One big thing is the "playground" as he calls it. They have one of those wooden playsets with monkey bars, swings, slide, etc. Evidently, he had a pretty good time antagonizing Jenna, too. We asked Braden what he had for supper and he said, "brown meat, broccoli stew, and rabbit stew." Sounds like Misti is quite the creative cook!

So, our date. We went to War of the Worlds and I thought it was absolutely wonderful. I am totally not the sci-fi fan, but I did want to see it. When we got out of the movie, I told Jason that I found myself all tensed up at times. I guess I was trying to make sure they saved the world!! Then we went to dinner at El Chico. It was nice for us because we didn't have the kids. Of course, I noticed all the other kids/babies interrupting their parents' dinners. That sounds pretty cold, but it's a wee-bit challenging to go out to eat with a couple of kiddos. Family dinners at home are much more manageable in my opinion.

We have our nightly routine with Braden's bedtime: he hides from Jason (in the same place every time), we read a book of his choice, then we say our prayers. We each say our own prayer, but Braden decides who goes first. I'll probably include some of the excerpts of his prayers in my blogs in order to make you smile! Last night, Braden thanked God for: the swingset, the playhouse, going to Jeremy's house, mama, daddy, and sis (sis got mentioned twice). He has to start his prayer with "God in heaven" and end it with "in Jesus name", and if you forget to ask for forgiveness of your sins- he'll call you on it right then and there.

Until next time...
