Lonesome Dove

We dined at Lonesome Dove in the FW Stockyards with Sara and Jasen Graham on December 29th. Anytime the Grahams come to Texas we do our best to pick a fine-dining experience to share with them. We are all self-proclaimed foodies. Jasen (Graham) and I are both frugal, but we don't mind spending money on excellent food. Jason (Karnes) and Sara are the seasoned foodies in the group, and we all get along beautifully.

We all ordered appetizers, salads, entrees, and desserts, of which we allowed the others to taste-test each course. Go to the website to check out the menu:
http://www.lonesomedovebistro.com/. My favorites for each course were: Hamachi tostadas, corn/cucumber/Heirloom tomato salad, Elk loin, and Ancho Chile chocolate cake. The wine we chose was Trefethen, a smooth Cabernet. I tell you the truth, this was one of the best meals we've ever had!

Chef Tim Love was present and came around for a quick visit. He is famous due to his appearances on Food Network, and his food definitely lives up to the reputation.

So, on a five star rating system, I give Lonesome Dove 5 stars. There are a few places close by that would compete if I had the choice to go anywhere in Ft. Worth: Bonnell's and Ruth's Chris come to mind! More to come on food reviews because one of our vague resolutions for this year is to go on more dates!

We LOVE Lonesome Dove too! Every year before the Saturday performance of the Red Stegall Ranch Rodeo, the ranch treats the team to dinner at LD. This year, we even had the kids...they loved the chocolate chip cookie sandwich best and Tate ended up eating at least 5! The kitchen staff loved that, so they kept bringing more! Needless to say, the kids loved it too!
