The Long Ball

Braden has finally conquered the outfield fence! He hit his first "real" homerun, or out-of-the-park homerun on Saturday! I will never forget the ear-to-ear smile on his face as he rounded 3rd for home! Our stoic child was elated! We got to keep the ball, and I'm sure he'll keep it with his other baseball treasures on the headboard of his bed. The boys played a tournament in Glen Rose over the weekend, and they took second place to a ringer team from Oklahoma.

Along with his first homerun, Braden also received his first intentional walk. Yes, they walked him in the last inning, because if we scored one more run we would win the game. The beauty of it was that one of his best buddies came up to bat behind him and knocked Braden in for the winning run! Talk about watching out for the big head. When you get intentionally walked in coach-pitch, you're probably doing alright!
