Jason and I had our 13th wedding anniversary yesterday! We tried at different points during the weekend to get in a date, and we finally got it worked out to do a movie followed by coffee on Sunday night! The movie we saw was Eat, Pray, Love, which was a book I had read earlier this year and scored poorly on my rating system. The movie is way better than the book, and I'd even call it theater-worthy.
Our coffee date was the best part of the night, of course. We were the only two people in Starbucks, and we just talked for a solid hour (until they closed). Talking together may not seem like a big deal, but when you have 3 kids and busy work schedules... it is a HUGE deal to sit and have an uninterrupted adult conversation! We still love to dream together, and we spent much of our time discussing what some of our upcoming life plans might be.
For example, we've got the itch to move from Tolar, although now is NOT the time for various reasons. We tossed around the idea of living in Pecan Plantation vs. our previous thought of having a country place on acreage. Our work lives seem to be drifting more toward Johnson County, but we wouldn't do anything permanent until Jason gets a principal position.
Another dream we have is to travel. The first travel spot for the main character in Eat, Pray, Love was Italy! By the end of the movie, I think Jason had the dates set in his mind of when we would leave for Italy! He's ready to go! I was thinking we might go back to Napa for our 15th anniversary, but he has his mind made up that we need to experience the food of Italy!
And, of course, we talked about the kids: how each one of them was doing, our expectations for them, and ways we can parent each of them better. We are so proud of our children! I don't know how to put this part in words. They have made our lives more complete! I thank God for the last 13 years with Jason, and for the last 8 years with the kids! We have been blessed with a beautiful marriage relationship, and it just seems to get stronger with each passing year!
