One of the beauties of the human brain is that uncanny ability to block out bad memories. Therefore, in my athletic memoirs, I have very few losses or defeats that I can remember. This is counting the kid ones- like rec-hall basketball, little league, and those fun elementary school track meets. Braden and Landry have had a little humble pie lately.
Braden's baseball team is a flaky bunch over the past few weeks. They can be flawless for two innings, then not show up for the rest of a game. They've been playing so many games, that they are in dire need of practice. Now, here we have a free weekend and the rain won't stop! The good thing about B is that it really doesn't seem to bother him much. (On the other hand, it frustrates me to no end when they lose!) He really gives his best effort, and he doesn't seem to be discouraged by the recent losing streak!
Girls are so much different than boys! Landry has been looking forward to a fun run scheduled up at the school. They have been practicing a 3/4 mile trail during PE. She told me that she had been coming in first place in practice, and she wanted to win first so she could have a trophy. I was able to make it to her race, as was Jason. The lesson learned was to save some fuel for the end of the race. She sprinted the first 1/4 mile and got a stitch in her side. The last half of the race was filled with tears and disappointment. We both helped her run across the finish line, but she was not happy with her performance!
