Ruffino's

Jason says I have to share this story about our dinner at Ruffino's. We had been to this great Italian place once before, and it was just what I was looking for. A very quiet restaurant with a limited amount of tables. Reservations recommended. Man playing love songs lightly on the piano. Service out of this world. Food that tastes like a true Italian cooked it. What else?

We had a great dinner, and we took our time with it which was even better. I am so used to rushing while I eat that it was nice to totally relax during a meal. There was a cute little Italian man, an elderly man, at the table next to us. We could kind of tell that this was HIS table, that he was a regular. The staff really catered to him the whole time and treated him with the utmost respect. After we finished our main course, the waitress brought us each a small portion of dessert and a dessert wine. We had declined on her offer of dessert, so we were a bit surprised. As we ate the treat, the little Italian man came over to our table. He introduced himself as John G. (the name was truly Italian and I don't remember it exactly). John had asked the waitress to bring us the wine and dessert... He said he had been watching us throughout the dinner and it made him so happy to see a couple so proud to show their affection toward each other in public. He said so many people don't even look like they are in love as they go out together, and he could tell that we really love each other. He got all choked up when he told us that he lost his wife 10 years ago to breast cancer. He has been coming to Ruffino's for 16 years, especially on Saturday nights so he can hear the piano. I promise, I'm not making this up, it really happened! Isn't that sweet? It really made our date even more special!
