We have some baby bird eggs in our hanging basket of petunias on the front porch. Momma bird left briefly for me to take a picture, and the kids are keeping a close eye on the eggs. Braden and Landry were very impressed by the nest as we talked about all that the momma bird had to do to build it. We need to check them after this cold spell and make sure they are okay out there.
Speaking of the cold spell... who's ever heard of snow in this area on April 7th. Jason has certainly never had a white birthday, but he sure did this year! The snow was beautiful, but it seemed quite out of place as it covered the already-green leaves on the trees!
Jason and I went to Johnny Carino's in Fort Worth on Friday night (italian food). I surprised him by packing a bag to stay overnight. He surprised me by wanting a little extra importance placed on his birthday this year. He's decided that this was the year that he's finally realized that birthdays become less of a celebration. Only a few people call, and it's just a call. Nobody orders you a birthday cake. What a bummer to get old!! I had to tease him a bit since he's usually not high-maintenance at all about his birthday. I don't ever recall him having- or even wanting- a birthday cake since I've known him! I did make him a coconut cream pie- his favorite. By the way, he doesn't even really like cake!!
Braden and Landry hunted Easter eggs several times this week. They did it at school and at church, so we have a bucket of sugar-filled candy that needs to disappear. We didn't do the whole Easter bunny thing at our house. I didn't even think about it. A lady asked Landry if the Easter bunny left something at her house this morning. You should of seen the look of confusion on her face! I felt bad, but just for a minute!
We had a huge crowd at church this morning. A total of 957 people came. It's amazing to think that almost a thousand people were there! The great thing about Easter is so many people that don't typically come to church will show up on Easter Sunday. It is awesome to be a part of what God is doing at StoneWater!!
