New Braunfels

We had a wonderful trip to New Braunfels. We left town at about 3:30 Sunday afternoon, and just made it back at about 4:30 on Wednesday. It was our family of four plus Charles (Jason's stepdad). His mom didn't get to come because of a transition at her work. Charles pulled their camper, and we stayed at a really neat RV park down by the Guadalupe River. It was a perfect location because it was close to town, but also right on the river.

We spent Monday at Schlitterbahn, or schlitterbombs, as Charles would say! Braden kept trying to correct him, but he gave up after awhile. Braden had the most fun! He rode all the big rides with Jason and Charles, with absolutely no fear. My cautious little boy has turned into quite the adventurer! Landry rode one of the big tube rides, and she laughed down each rapid! No question that she has the adventurous gene. After the waterpark, we went back to shower and change, then go out to eat at the famous onion ring place. Landry fell asleep on the way there, slept all the way through dinner (in my arms most of the time), then woke up when we got home. I commented that that was probably the first time she had ever missed a meal!!

Tuesday was the best. We hung out around the camper and the river all day. We ate good snacky foods, played down at the river, and even got a good nap. Jason and Braden were brave enough to go into some of the "waterfalls." I was not much of a river rat after I stumped my toe on a rock. Poor me didn't have water shoes, so it put me in a bit of a foul mood when I banged up my toe. We had a great dinner at Johnny Carino's (italian), and I snuck in a little Marble Slab ice cream afterward! May I mention that I did run every day of the trip to compensate for the massive amount of calories that I ingested!

We got up this morning and got things packed up. It took a while to get home since we had to stop at the Blue Bonnet Cafe in Marble Falls. It just happened to be lunch time, and they just happen to have a great selection of homemade pies! Everybody had chocolate except Jason, he had peanut butter. Very good pie! We finally made it home and got everything unpacked and put away. We've already given the washer and dryer a good workout this evening.

The kids are in bed, and I am excited to sleep in our own bed tonight. We had a wonderful time, maybe the most relaxing vacation I've been on. The kids are at an age where everything does not seem like work. We enjoyed watching them enjoy themselves. I hope Braden is old enough to remember this trip for a long time. I can remember some things from when I was four, so I hope this will stay in his long term memory bank! What a blessing to get to go on vacation!!
