Landry Beth is quite a different creature than her brother. I guess they are supposed to be different, but Braden sure was easy-going at her age. Landry got in trouble for throwing a full-blown fit, the whole nine yards of screaming, stomping her feet, etc. This was because I wouldn't let her in the cabinet under the kitchen sink. I guess she resorted to the potty. She knows not to play in it, but that doesn't seem to matter to her. The trick of keeping the lid down doesn't work anymore either. I caught her in it 3 times yesterday. The third time I was very firm with her, raised my voice, and even spatted her hand. I expected the pouty bottom lip, or even a sad little cry. Nope, she just stared at me with absolutely no expression on her face. Yikes.
We had homemade pancakes yesterday morning. Jason got on foodnetwork.com to get the recipe since we didn't have any pancake mix. They were so good!! We stripped the kids' clothes off, and turned them loose with their syruped pancakes. Braden watched as Landry would press her sticky belly up against the bar and then peel herself off. He said, "Landry made a big mess!" They were both transported directly to the bathtub!
We spent a good portion of the day cleaning. We even got in the kids' closets and organized the toys. Braden now has categoried containers of vehicles, animals, action figures, blocks, train stuff... We'll make a valiant effort to keep it looking like that for more than a day or so. Landry's bouncy horse (inherited from the Moermans) got moved by her window. She loves that horse "dee-tee" as she calls it. At least she doesn't call it a dog! That is what she calls most animals. And you ask her what it says, "meow" for everything! She has started calling her giraffe a "raf" instead of a dog. She is getting more words, which is good. I've threatened many times to put her in speech therapy. Now she's started the jumbled words that sounds like she is saying an entire sentence, but you only hear one intelligible word. One sounds like, "gobble, gobble, go bye-bye" You may laugh, but it sounds just like that!
We're off to tackle another day!
