Tympanostomy with Graft

Landry had her ear surgery yesterday, with the fancy medical term above. The ordeal was long, but very successful according to Dr. Bryan. She was in the operating room for about 2 1/2 hours, and she was out of it most of the day. Thanks to her family history of serious nausea after anesthesia, baby girl was sick anytime she woke up!

Dr. Bryan explained the procedure: He harvested a section of cartilage from her outer ear to seal the hole in her eardrum. Before that, he repaired the tissue and cut away the skin that had grown between her eardrum and skull. Talk about precision work! He did this all through the ear canal, so she only has a small incision at the graft site. She does have more pain than we expected, but she is one tough cookie!

Our hope is that this is the last big event for her infamous left ear!
