Tidbits

Braden voiced his perspective on something the other night. We were at a restaurant that had a chalk board. His reading ability has him curious to read anything and everything aloud. He said, "Hmm, on Fridays all you can eat is catfish." Get it: All-U-Can-Eat Catfish!! Jason and I just gave each other the parent smirk and nod.

I'm reading a great book about birth order- how it shapes your personality, career path, relationships, parenting, etc. It has such a creative name: "The Birth Order Book" by Kevin Leman. I would recommend it to anyone. It has opened my eyes to many things already, and I'm only about a third of the way into it! By the way, I'm the baby of the family if you are wondering, but I don't follow the typical "last born" mold (the author explains some reasons why). It's really got me thinking about people in a different light, and I find myself trying to guess where people fall in the family line. It has also made me think about how we parent the kids.

I was at a patient's house today when her husband started talking about World War II. If you didn't notice, our WWII veterans are getting pretty old. That is something I have appreciated in working with old folks: all the history they share. Anyway, he was talking about some of the things that keep him up at night and my heart just broke for him. I can't imagine, and that's just one man in one war.

How long should it take a person to get herself and 3 kids ready in the morning? My mighty hunter is somewhere in west Texas freezing his bones and taking out deer. I'm usually pretty much ready to go by 7, but I piddle around the house for another 45 minutes or so. Not this morning, I was hoofing it all morning and barely made it out of here a little after 8! Perhaps I just thought that "I do everything" in the mornings! We never give our men enough credit, do we?

I still haven't made any kind of an effort to go Christmas shopping. The kids made their lists this weekend. I'll have to save them because they are adorable. I'm not a Grinch or anything, just a procrastinator!

I love that book, too! You know, I'm a middle child, technically, but because of the age gap between me and Amy, I also have first-born attributes. I'm hard to pin down!!! I miss you. Let's do talk this weekend!!
