What if...

Do you ever wonder what would have happened with your life if a certain event didn't take place, or if you didn't have an encounter with a certain person, etc? I was recently in contact with my college golf coach in order to get her address for a birth announcement. I had one of those reflective moments after I read her email. I wasn't a heavily recruited golfer in high school. What happened with me was quite circumstantial, if you don't believe in divine intervention. My junior year of high school, I qualified to play in the state tournament at Austin. I got paired with the top golfer in the state, who is now on the LPGA tour. With her little entourage of family and college coaches watching on, I had a career day. I shot even par and for those who appreciate golf, I think I probably only hit a few greens in regulation that day. This caught the eye of the A&M golf coach, who loved to see someone "scramble" for their pars.

The rest is somewhat history. Jeanne continued to watch me, and by the middle of my senior year I had an offer to go play for her at A&M. I think about where I would have gone to college had I not gotten this scholarship. From there on out, my whole life was changed. I made a bulk of life-changing decisions in the years at College Station: God, marriage, friends- all those relationships were formed that have shaped my life today. It's totally awesome! I had a friend from high school (Misti) who led me to a great Christian group. This got me away from my thug-of-a-boyfriend from the Ville. Misti's boyfriend at the time (now husband) had the bright idea to introduce me to Jason. That was nothing but a perfect fit! What in the world? My life is great! I couldn't ask for a better husband and family. I know that the aforementioned round of golf wasn't the hinging point of my future, but it just made me think for a minute: Where would I be if all that didn't play out like it did? I'm all for the way my life has worked out so far. Thank you Lord!
