That was my pain rating on Wednesday. I started out the day thinking maybe I was getting a bladder infection or something because I kept feeling the need to go to the bathroom, but I was not able to put much out. Then the backache started. I thought it was just going to be a minor backache for the first few minutes, but the pain intensified and I took a pain pill. Then, I took another pain pill because one was obviously not enough. Then the abdominal pain started and I thought, "Something is really wrong here!" I called my OB office and got an appointment, but by the time it was time to leave, I couldn't even drive myself. I texted Jason because I figured he'd freak out if I called him crying about how bad I was hurting. He called our friends, the Carters, and they came to drive me to the doctor. They were sitting at home waiting to go into the hospital to have labor induced, so she said it was great for them to be doing something other than waiting for the phone to ring!
So, they took a urine sample from the minimal amount I was able to give and told me I had a bladder infection. It was the nurse practitioner and I asked her how we would know if it's a kidney stone because of the intense pain. I've never had a kidney stone, but I've heard how bad it hurts. We got the antibiotic and made it home (Jason and Braden had met us at the doctor's office), and I could not deal with the pain. I seriously wanted to be knocked out and considered going to the ER. I was nauseous and thought I'd throw up, but I never did. My medical sense told me to take a muscle relaxer to try to get my insides to calm down. My low stomach and back hurt so bad!! This lasted until about 2:00 p.m., and then the pain gradually started decreasing.
Glory be, a little after 7 p.m. I passed a kidney stone!! WOW, I have a whole new respect for people that have had to deal with that. I had no idea of the pain. The bad thing was that I could not find anything to ease the pain. Ice, heat, lying down, etc. Nothing worked! So, I passed the stone and everything is back to normal. What a fun day, huh?
Kudos to Jason for being such a good "nurse" and to the kids for being so quiet and well-behaved that day. I think they were all just scared to see the momma hurting like that! Poor Tripp slept all day because of course, he was getting the medication too! Glad it's over...
