First of all, I don't think I ever blogged that Jason and I are expected our third baby in March!! Everything is going fine with that, and I've offically made it to week 12 today. We are excited, of course! We thought we were done at two, but we changed our minds and got pregnant right away... literally right away!
Jason and I had the most awesome vacation to California from August 7th-15th. We went without the kids, and they fared quite well with family! I'll have to do a vacation only blog sometime soon and write about all the cool things we did, but here's a briefing:
We flew into San Francisco and drove an hour north to Napa. We spent four days there eating the finest food and touring several wineries. We went on a , hot air balloon adventure, a train ride and played a round of golf too. The best part of Napa was there pace of life. There's not a person in the entire county that's ever been in a hurry. The people there just seem so relaxed and easy going... could be something to do with all the wine!! The food was incredible. Most of the resaurants were small, and the all the food was fresh. I don't think they know anything about food supply trucks or pre-made frozen food!
The rest of our trip was spent in Monterey, which is on the coast. We played three more rounds of golf in the best golfing weather. One day, we played 36 holes and never got close to a sweat. We went kayaking in the bay one morning, but unfortunately I got sea sick and had to cut it short. There were sea otters and seals everywhere, with the seals being so playful that they would come right up to our boats and splash around! We also went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium which was very impressive. It was a great anniversary trip, and it sure was good to get home to the kids!
My primary excuse for not blogging until now is this: we both got some poison ivy on the last day of our trip. It came from my naive little self thinking I'd hit the jackpot by finding a bunch of golf balls near a creek. Well, I found more than golf balls! Jason had a patch of it when we woke up the next morning the fly home, and I mine showed up the following morning. Jason got in to the doctor and got a shot and some oral steroids. I got the privilege of suffering through it because my OB didn't want me to have anything that strong yet. Evidently the poison ivy got into my bloodstream and went "systemic." This means I had it ALL over! I was totally miserable for an entire week, and the doctor finally gave me meds on Friday. I was not getting any sleep, and I'm sure that I'll have some scars from some of the worse areas where I broke out! The past two days have been so great, without itching and burning and climbing the walls!
So, Braden starts Kindergarten tomorrow!! Can I believe it? NO! He is very excited, and I think he'll do very well. Landry goes back to pre-school, and she'll be in the Yellow Lions class this year. Our friend and neighbor, Misty Carter, will be her teacher this year. She'll be great with Landry because she'll be firm and not let her get away with anything. Both the kids are doing great! I'll update more this week after we have some good school stories!
