Camping In Style

I hesitate to even call it camping. We took a trip to Kerrville this past weekend with Jason's parents. They have a new RV that sleeps 9!! The grandparents took Braden, Kayli, and Landry down there Thursday night, and Jason and I drove there Friday morning (yes, I took a day off work). The drive was beautiful, although all the curves and hills gave me motion sickness. We were there just in time for lunch, and then the kids begged to go back to the river. The campsite was right along the Guadalupe river, and they also had two swimming pools, playground, walking trails, game room, etc! The kids spent most of Friday in the water, I think Braden's eyes are still red from opening them so much underwater. Jason had an unfortunate incident in the river involving a slippery rock and a broken toe!

We all slept in Saturday morning until about 9:00. You see, there was a massive thunderstorm that blew through Kerrville in the middle of the night. I was sure that I was going to wake up with the RV sitting in the middle of the river, but it held its ground. The awning did break from the pressure of the water, but that's a long story that we don't need to go in to. It was so wet that we decided to take the kids to play at the indoor McDonald's playground. After that, we went and got some real food at this mexican food restaurant called Mamacita's. Homemade tortillas... need I say more? The weather cleared off and allowed us to swim some more Saturday afternoon, and we finished the evening with some grilled hamburgers.

What did we need to complete the trip? I mentioned earlier that we had the three kids... that was a hint! Nana insisted that all the grandkids sleep with her Saturday night. At 1:30 in the morning, I hear "Jennifer, I need you!" I woke up in a stupor and made my way up to the bedroom. She said, "Braden is throwing up." As soon as the light went on, I realized that it was not Braden who was throwing up, it was Landry. The bad part is that she was doing it in her sleep and it was getting all over Braden. We kicked Kayli out and by the time we got them both awake enough to figure out what was going on, then the crying began! Without being any more gross than necessary, we'll just say that there was an incredible mess on one end of the camper. Leave to my Landry Beth!! Oh, what a mess! Jason and I just had to laugh as we had gone outside to rinse all the linens with the water hose. The faucet had about half a pound of pressure as we tried to rinse stuff off with a dribble of water. The joy of raising kids. Now, we had a contaminated area... long story short: I got to sleep in the same bed with my mother-in-law. Not too many people can claim that one!!

In all seriousness, our trip was wonderful and much needed. It was so nice to sit down by the river and listen to the water flow. Something about being away from the house made a lot of stressors go away. That busy part of my brain just went to sleep for a while and it was really nice! Here's some more pics from the trip!
